Versatile Sewing Techniques & Methods:

This template is highly versatile and allows you to use your favorite crafting and appliqué methods depending on the materials you choose:

• Felt Appliqué (Beginner-Friendly): If using felt, simply cut out the template shapes and sew them directly onto the background—no edge finishing required!
• Traditional Fusible Web Appliqué:
  1. Trace the shapes in mirror image onto the paper side of double-sided fusible interfacing (such as Bondaweb/Pellon).
  2. Fuse onto the wrong side of your fabric, cut out the pieces, peel off the backing paper, and fuse onto the base mat.
  3. Stitch around the edges using a straight stitch (for a raw-edge look) or a satin/zigzag stitch (for a classic finish).
• Reverse Appliqué: Layer your fabrics underneath and cut away the top layer to reveal the gnome shapes.

Feel free to customize your gnomes with faux fur beards, small jingle bells, beads, or decorative quilting to bring your own Whimsical Gnome Trio to life!

Sewing method:
This project uses the reverse appliqué method, but you can also make it the traditional way:

1. Trace the shape in mirror image on the paper side of double-sided fusible interfacing.
2. Fuse it to the wrong side of the fabric you want to appliqué.
3. Cut out the shape, remove the paper, and fuse it onto the background.
4. Sew with a straight stitch for a raw-edge look or a zigzag stitch for a classic appliqué finish.
